CGPA to Percentage Formula - University-wise Conversion

Different universities use different formulas to convert CGPA to percentage. CBSE: Percentage = CGPA x 9.5. VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University): Percentage = CGPA x 10 minus 7.5. Anna University: Percentage = CGPA x 10 minus 7.5. Mumbai University: uses CGPA x 10 (approximately). SRM University: Percentage = CGPA x 10 minus 7.5 for some programs. Most other universities either use x9.5 or provide their own formula in the marksheet - use the custom multiplier option in this CGPA to percentage calculator if your university uses a different factor. The tool also shows your percentage class: Distinction (70%+), First Class (60-70%), Second Class (50-60%), Pass (40-50%).

Marks to Percentage Formula - How to Calculate

The marks to percentage formula is: Percentage = (Total Marks Obtained divided by Maximum Marks) x 100. For a single subject: if you scored 78 out of 100, your percentage is 78%. For aggregate across multiple subjects: add all marks obtained (say 425 + 380 + 410 = 1215) and divide by total maximum marks (say 500 + 500 + 500 = 1500), then multiply by 100: 1215/1500 x 100 = 81%. This percentage calculator handles multi-subject aggregate automatically.

SGPA to CGPA Calculator - Semester-wise Conversion

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is calculated from semester-wise SGPA using a weighted average by credit hours. The formula is: CGPA = Sum of (SGPA of each semester multiplied by Credits of that semester) divided by Total Credits across all semesters. For example, if you have 8 semesters with varying SGPA values and 24 credits each, simply add each (SGPA x Credits) product and divide by the total credits. Enter your data in the SGPA to CGPA tab above to get instant results. Once you have your CGPA, use the CGPA to percentage converter tab to get your equivalent percentage for job applications and university admissions.

Minimum Percentage for Government Exams - Quick Reference

Frequently Asked Questions

❓ How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
Multiply your CGPA by 9.5 to get the approximate percentage as per the CBSE formula. For example, 8.2 CGPA x 9.5 = 77.9%. VTU uses CGPA x 10 minus 7.5. Anna University and other universities may use different multipliers - check your university guidelines or use the custom multiplier option in this calculator.
❓ How to calculate percentage from marks?
Percentage = (Obtained Marks divided by Total Marks) x 100. For example, if you scored 425 out of 500, your percentage is (425/500) x 100 = 85%. To calculate aggregate percentage across multiple subjects, add all obtained marks, divide by total possible marks, then multiply by 100.
❓ What is the minimum percentage required for government jobs?
Requirements vary by exam: SSC CGL requires a graduation degree (no minimum percentage), UPSC CSE requires any degree, Banking IBPS PO requires 60% in graduation (55% for SC/ST), Railway NTPC requires 50% in 12th standard. Always verify the exact cutoff in the official recruitment notification.
❓ What is SGPA and how is it different from CGPA?
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) is the grade point average for a single semester. CGPA (Cumulative GPA) is the weighted average across all semesters. CGPA = Sum of (SGPA multiplied by Credits for each semester) divided by Total Credits across all semesters.
❓ How to calculate aggregate percentage for a degree?
Add the total marks obtained in all semesters, divide by the total maximum marks across all semesters, then multiply by 100. Alternatively, calculate CGPA from semester-wise SGPA and credits, then convert CGPA to percentage using your university formula.
❓ What is the formula for percentage increase?
Percentage increase = ((New Value minus Old Value) divided by Old Value) x 100. For example, if salary increased from 20000 to 25000, the increase is ((25000-20000)/20000) x 100 = 25%. Use the percentage increase calculator tab in this tool for quick results.
❓ How to calculate SGPA to CGPA?
CGPA = Sum of (SGPA of each semester multiplied by credits of that semester) divided by total credits of all semesters. For example, if Semester 1 has SGPA 8.0 with 24 credits and Semester 2 has SGPA 8.5 with 24 credits, CGPA = (8.0x24 + 8.5x24) / 48 = 8.25. Enter your semester-wise SGPA and credits in the SGPA to CGPA tab above.
